About the Artist
A voice for the
Colombian guitar.
Born in Bogotá, Andrés David Arcila is a classical guitarist devoted to elevating the music of Colombia — the bambuco, the pasillo, the torbellino — alongside the great Latin American and European repertoire.
He completed undergraduate studies at Universidad del Norte with Julian Navarro González, then earned a Master's in Artistic Teaching at the Conservatori del Liceu in Barcelona under Guillem Pérez-Quer. Today he is a Fulbright–MinCiencias scholar pursuing his doctorate at the University of North Texas under Bokyung Byun.
From the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona to the Congress of the Republic in Bogotá, his performances bridge centuries of European tradition with the warmth and rhythm of his homeland.

"The guitarist must simultaneously evoke the rhythmic drive of the bandola, the melodic line of the voice, and the harmonic support of the tiple — all on six strings."
"An interpreter who carries the Colombian guitar tradition with rare precision and an unmistakable warmth of phrase."
"Arcila elevates the bambuco and pasillo to the international concert stage — technically demanding, musically luminous."
"A serious scholar of Latin American repertoire whose performances move easily between Barrios, Villa-Lobos, and Gentil Montaña."
